I’m still here

Well it’s been five months since the last post, I guess it’s time for an update, right? ;) I’ve been doing pretty good. I’m currently on summer vacation and head back to school in two weeks. I haven’t been up to very much, just relaxing and spending time with friends. Some highlights:

  • I decided to take up guitar as a hobby. I’m starting out learning acoustic, but I may move on to electric in the future. I bought a nice Fender DG-8S acoustic guitar. It’s not a very expensive guitar, but it is a great beginner guitar and is suitable for my current needs. I’m not taking lessons, but instead I thought I would just try to teach myself for now through the internet and books. They offer guitar classes at school, so I might take those later. So far things are going well.
  • I took a trip to the Coinstar machine and found out I had over $200 in coins! That was a nice feeling. :) So in a way, I paid for my guitar entirely with coins.
  • I picked up Rainbow Six Vegas for PS3. It’s an awesome game, very fun online. I also got into the Home beta and was in the Warhawk beta. Those are great as well.
  • I spent a good amount of summer occupied with a summer online class for school. In terms of school, I feel refreshed and am on a clean slate. I’m ready to start the next semester.
  • I went down to Santa Cruz twice this summer. I took a panoramic of the beach, which you can see here.
  • I started going to the gym nearly six nights a week.  I’m becoming healthy and am starting to get in shape.  I’m also eating healthier.  This is resulting in a better lifestyle for me, and I’m proud of that.

I’ll try to update more often, but I’m not making any guarantees. I don’t think anyone reads this anyways.

Sounds like you’ve had an eventful summer.

I took summer classes also, but mine didn’t go so well.. haha

Yes, I’d say this was one of the better summers I’ve had.

Haven’t heard from you in awhile, Donald. I hope all is well. :)

Cool DiD,

I’m also trying to learn the acoustic guitar. Problem is I’ve had the guitar for over a month and haven’t done much with it. I have some video tutorials but haven’t spent much time following along.

So how’s your progress coming along? Do you have any websites you recommend?

I highly do recommend you take the guitar course as an elective. I was about to do the same last year, but my core classes took too much of my time.

Good luck =)

It’s going alright, but I haven’t really been practicing much lately. I can’t really do much, but I do know a couple chords. I’m just practicing transitioning between them. I can also play random bits of songs by looking at some tabs. I’ve been looking at this website for lessons, it’s really good.

I also got a book from the library called The Complete Guitar Course. I haven’t looked at it very much though.
